Hello, I'm a freelance tutor and translator with a background in drama, literature and Japanese studies. I have worked for over four years as an English tutor to Japanese students, working with students from age 4 to 65. I have also tutored Japanese language to students wishing to learn more and to practice their conversation and grammar. I have also tutored students in politics, history and literature (including at summer schools based at Oxford University and to exchange students in the University of Manchester), and I was a lecturer in English at the Japanese Red Cross College of Nursing in Tokyo for one year, besides working as a seminar teacher in the Performing Arts at the University of Birmingham.

Growing up moving around, I lived on a catamaran in the Caribbean with my parents, older brother, cat, and dog (and we even had a vegetable garden on deck!). Through this experience, I got to encounter different cultures and lifestyles, meet diverse crowds of people, learn different languages, and feed my desire to connect, share stories. I believe we learn greatly from one another and inspire each other to grow in myriad ways. I want to help curious minds exceed their language goals, grow their vocabulary, polish their skills, and ultimately find their voice. A French-speaking Italian grown up in Russia, English became a passion of mine very early in my childhood when I tried to put sentences together with the few words I knew. My love for languages and literature fed my adolescent years and after studying Art in London, finding out I could teach for a living was a blessing. Years later, I have now had experience of teaching all ages and levels, preparing hundreds of students for Cambridge exams, GCSEs and Alevels, SATs and GMAT. I have helped adults prepare for new jobs and countries, children get to grips with their first foreign language experience and teens fall in love with a foreign culture- the first necessity to learn a new language. I've taught since I was in elementary school, when my teachers let me merge three classrooms for one massive drawing lesson! As a teenager, telling of this experience afforded me the opportunity to spend volunteer time at the local elementary school where I taught 3rd-5th graders for three years in a row. Now, as an adult, the urge to teach is still a part of me as teaching English, grammar, reading, writing and SAT-prep became my job! Currently, the pandemic has made things are different as we all know. Surprisingly though, it's actually expanded my student base, as the digital realm of teaching has brought me students from all over the world!
