Hello, and welcome to my profile! I am passionate about language, culture, and traveling. I believe language and clear communications is the key to understanding, building connections and relationships, and bridging the gap between people. This is why I'm passionate about my native language -English. It's my calling to help others deepen their connections to others through language! My approach is to, first, understand my student and get to know them personally so that I know what their goals and intentions are. Fostering a comfortable teacher-student relationship and creating a comfortable environment is important in learning and teaching. I also approach teaching language in a way that is relatable and practical, so I
use references and examples from pop culture and various genres.
Close your eyes, breathe in, slowly exhale, open your eyes and let's tackle this language together! I have been an educator for over 20 years and believe in connecting and engaging my learners. Together, we journey along the road, accept our bumps, our detours, our triumphs and our stumbles. I am committed to seeing all of my learners succeed, no matter how long the process takes.
I remain available many hours and days based on what is needed, always flexible and adaptable to change. English is such a profoundly exciting and complicated language but it provides a gateway to the business world across the globe. Together, we will develop mastery, understanding and enjoyment.
I believe in tying language learning by means of personal interests. Whereas that might be a difficult task to do for real beginners, it should gradually be applied. At the same time, the student is the customer, which means that I will cater to their wishes and needs.
Ideally, we would only use the target language, but since that could be frustrating and ineffective at times, the use of a secondary language can be of help. However, learning of vocabulary and the comprehension of situations should be contextual.
Over the years, I have built on techniques that seek to explain words without much explanation, e.g. by the use of examples, synonyms, etc.
Due to my interest and expertise in Intercultural Communication, I pay close attention to my students' "background culture".
Well, my name is Shauna Parrott. I am a 31 year old Newfoundlander with a passion for teaching adults. My love for languages started at a very young age when my mother was teaching French immersion. She would always converse with me and therefore I began to love French. When I began university, it was a no brainer that I would do a degree in both my native English and French. Upon graduation, I moved to France and taught English for a year to high school students. My passion was reignited. Since then, I have been teaching both English and French in the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District school system. In 2019, I moved to the south of Italy to teach English yet again to adults. This was the most fulfilling teaching experience of my life and I can’t wait to get to know you! 😊
During my degree I successfully combined my studies with work and other commitments showing myself to be self-motivated, organised and capable of working under pressure. I have a clear, logical mind with a practical approach to problem solving and a drive to see things through to completion. I enjoy working on my own initiative or in a team. In short, I am reliable, trustworthy, hardworking and eager to learn and have a genuine interest in Procurement and Project Management.
The purpose of education is to learn new things and then try to implement what you have learned. Education is key to any profession. Education really means learning skills, motivation, inspiration, academic integration.
I believe students learn best by teaching and learning methods (Borich,1992) that motivate, encourage dialogue, participation, and thinking, provide affirmation of knowledge and clear feedback on misconceptions and areas to carry forward improvements in a safe and respectful learning environment,
Normally, student’s engagement, participation, and questions reflect their level of understanding. I also use the method of summative questions to check their understanding and if the learning outcomes of the lecture are achieved or not.
I started teaching swimming lessons when I was 15 years old and immediately knew that I enjoyed helping others find their potential. When I started teaching English, I was not yet professionally certified, and through trial and error learned that there are two things a great teacher needs, and that is an absolute love and knowledge of the content area, and an ability to connect with students. Since then, I have taught for 17 years, with 4 years teaching abroad in Colombia, and the greatest feedback that I receive has always been students telling me that I make class fun, I inspire them to do their best and be good people, and that they feel like they can learn better because I am "real" with them. I'd love to connect with you and help you to see how much fun learning a language can be.
When I start teaching English subjects as a Second Language, I do always tell them that learning is truly fun! The number one rule to learn English is "no rule at all"! Communication is the key to better understanding and by submitting themselves ( students) through learning with interest ( curiosity---mostly) and practice by doing... everything will turn out just right! Learning English especially grammar is not taught traditionally.... because I want my students to explore and discover that learning English is just basically cool!
Teaching is one of my greatest passions. I taught English as a second language in Brazil, at a language school, and I could not be happier. I also had some Portuguese freelance teaching. My techniques do not include translation, as I believe to learn a new language you need to start thinking in it to achieve fluency - that is how I learnt English, and that is how I teach. I also believe learning has to be fun, so my classes are never boring or uninteresting. My students usually say I am funny, creative, excited, and caring. If you ask any of them (and I had hundreds!), they will always say I was the best teacher they have ever had. So come along and let's start having fun!
Welcome to everyone to learn Spanish in an easy and very fun way. I use my own method that works very good for a long time, teaching through games, creativity, description of drawings, words and riddles. I also use something that I called "Emergency Spanish", it is to be able to communicate in typical and real situations of daily life.
In this way my classes are quite specials, not very traditional, my motto is "Learn by Playing".
You will also learn culture from my country and some others, words that are not in the dictionary and daily phrases. Book a trial lesson with me to start becoming a native Spanish-speaking.
Do you dare the challenge? I´ll wait for you soon!!
My name is Julia Galletti (26yo) I currently live in Spanaway. Trilingual (Portuguese, English and Spanish)
professional with 5+ years of education and childcare experience developing and deploying educational planning and classroom
instructional techniques to support students’ growth and development. Excellent communication, collaboration, mentoring, organization, relationship building, interpersonal, and didactic teaching skills.
When I start to teach French or English as a second language, I tell students that mistakes are normal and encouraged. It is very important to not translate to the native language because languages are a series of patterns. Some words and phrases are unique to the language and sometimes cannot be translated.
It is also important to take risks and step out of your "comfort zone," and take the challenge of learning a new language. Also, set simple, realistic goals. Eventually, you may hit a "plateau," or become frustrated that you are not making progress. Go back to goals.
Listen to the language at least 15 min a day, especially during "dead time."
Lastly, language is united with culture. Embrace it!
I provide a fun, risk-free learning environment. Come join me. Let's get started
