I love to create a comfortable learning environment with my students, no matter what level or experience they come from. I seek to not only teach and assist with understanding a new language, but inspire an original appreciation for continuous learning. It's exciting to try and find a learning technique or specific aspect of a culture that creates a more meaningful retention of a new language. As a student, I found that I better understood topics when my instructor would tailor lessons according to my interests. I know that creativity in approach can significantly improve the way we learn, and I would like to be the kind of instructor that allows more space for that!

I have taught English to a wide range of ages and abilities for twenty years. I am familiar with and utilize several different methodologies and techniques to enhance language learning. I speak three languages and have lived and worked in different countries. If I'm teaching Japanese people English the first thing I would do is tell them to stop translating English to Japanese, because I tend to find that trying to speak like a native is way more effective than translating it back to your language. I would help them to pronounce different words in everyday life and help to understand different meanings in a sentence. When I teach people English I teach it the most fun, interesting, and inspiring way possible as I believe that you succeed a lot more whilst having fun learning a language rather than just acting like a robot telling them to read textbooks and learn paragraphs. I teach people with passion excitement and inspiration. I've had amazing feedback from teaching Japanese people for more than 2 years. They have all enjoyed learning.
