Looking forward to learn together the langue of Molière!
Well, my name is Shauna Parrott. I am a 31 year old Newfoundlander with a passion for teaching adults. My love for languages started at a very young age when my mother was teaching French immersion. She would always converse with me and therefore I began to love French. When I began university, it was a no brainer that I would do a degree in both my native English and French. Upon graduation, I moved to France and taught English for a year to high school students. My passion was reignited. Since then, I have been teaching both English and French in the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District school system. In 2019, I moved to the south of Italy to teach English yet again to adults. This was the most fulfilling teaching experience of my life and I can’t wait to get to know you! 😊
When I start to teach French or English as a second language, I tell students that mistakes are normal and encouraged. It is very important to not translate to the native language because languages are a series of patterns. Some words and phrases are unique to the language and sometimes cannot be translated.
It is also important to take risks and step out of your "comfort zone," and take the challenge of learning a new language. Also, set simple, realistic goals. Eventually, you may hit a "plateau," or become frustrated that you are not making progress. Go back to goals.
Listen to the language at least 15 min a day, especially during "dead time."
Lastly, language is united with culture. Embrace it!
I provide a fun, risk-free learning environment. Come join me. Let's get started

Being a rapper myself, my work with the French immersion students focuses on dissecting French rap songs. My students read and listen to a song then demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the personal, social, cultural, historical and environmental context in relation to the song. They learn that a rich vocabulary and textual organization are essential for expressing themselves in front of an audience.

As a teacher I feel that it is essential to establish a Code of conduct in the classroom and provide a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. I foster the establishment of good relationships with students, putting them at ease and encouraging their participation. From my experience, I have found that it is important to demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching, learning and sharing the knowledge, with well organised and conducted lessons. Additionally, I link my expectations to students in a calm manner and give them constructive and positive feedback in order to develop students’ confidence and trust. I feel it is significant that my planned lessons help students feel safe to participate through the meaningful verbal feedback.
Hello everyone!
I’ Martina, I’m 23 and I graduated in foreign languages and literatures last March. I studied English and French, but I speak Spanish too.
I also did a 5 month traineeship as teacher of Italian for foreigners at the CPIA Institute in Palermo. This has been a great experience for me because I had the opportunity to challenge my skills, managing classes where people of different languages and cultural backgrounds started with the Italian language. I was very proud to see my student achieving their results.
I love working in a multicultural environment. I am fascinated by cultural differences.
I would be very grateful to teach you Italian language and culture. I am available to schedule lessons on the base of your needs!

If I'm teaching Japanese people English the first thing I would do is tell them to stop translating English to Japanese, because I tend to find that trying to speak like a native is way more effective than translating it back to your language. I would help them to pronounce different words in everyday life and help to understand different meanings in a sentence. When I teach people English I teach it the most fun, interesting, and inspiring way possible as I believe that you succeed a lot more whilst having fun learning a language rather than just acting like a robot telling them to read textbooks and learn paragraphs. I teach people with passion excitement and inspiration. I've had amazing feedback from teaching Japanese people for more than 2 years. They have all enjoyed learning.
