Hello everybody! Ciao a tutti!
My name is Giulia, I come from Italy and I am really easy-going, not too strict when it comes to grammar rules and all that famously boring part of language learning... My tricks and secrets rely on the fact that I have been a student not so long ago and I know what the struggles might be. My idea is therefore to let you, as my student, know my language (Italian language) and culture step by step and in a very outgoing way. We are going to listen to music, watch some movies, comment on them, and reflects on grammar, of course, but pragmatics of my language too.
At least, this is what I did with my former Italian language students in a college in the USA, and I believe my students loved it. And if they didn’t, their results were brilliant!!
Hi! I'm a native portuguese teacher, 25y.
I have a degree in portuguese literature, linguistics and culture and also a master's degree to teach portuguese as a second language.
During my master's degree i had the opportunity to teach in the university of A Coruna (Galicia, Spain) as a trainee and I really loved it.
Even before I defended my thesis, I started to work in a School for Foreigners in Portugal and I'm still working there, with adults from everywhere, mostly teaching from level A1 to B2 (presencial and online classes).
In my classes, the priority is conversation, to be able to talk from the beginning, but always according to the student(s) needs. Usually, my students see me like a friend from school, and that's my favorite part of the job. Hope you can do it too, soon!
Hello!
I'm Magda Dias and I'm a Portuguese (from Portugal) teacher. I've always had a lot of interest in languages and loved to share my culture with foreigners who were interested in learning my culture. That's how I ended up taking teaching Portuguese as a second language and foreign-language as a real job.
If you want to learn Portuguese, you need to know that because my classes are conversational I won't be using any language except Portuguese. I wanna make you someone that can communicate with a native Portuguese person and not a Portuguese grammar memorization machine. Aside from the language, you'll also learn about certain aspects of our culture that you might not be aware of.
See you soon!
My name is Marina Carvalho and I consider myself a language enthusiastic. I studied Chinese for four years in University and besides being super challenging, it made me even more interested in language learning.
I spent one year in Beijing,China due to my University programe and while I was there, I gave English classes to chinese kids from 7 to 11 years old. It was an incredible experience that got me thinking about not only the translation/interpretation area, but also the teaching one (also to teach Chinese).
After finishing my BA, I signed up for a 120 hours TEFL (Teach English as a Foreign Language) Masters Certificate, which I finished in December 2020.
I hope you can give me the amazing oportunity of helping you in improving your English level while having loads of fun !
Some teachers have the perception that teaching Portuguese conversation involves just “talking” to the students.
Free-talking does have a role in helping students learn Portuguese. However, it shouldn’t be the only thing we do in our Portuguese conversation classes.
There is far more to Portuguese conversation than just free-talking. In my first year of teaching, I was given a “free-talking” class with school students. The students wanted to just hang out and speak in Portuguese.
After a couple weeks of this, I felt like nobody was actually learning anything! The students were just making the same mistakes, over and over again. I introduced structure, some new grammar and vocabulary and found that the class went much more smoothly. The students improved their Portuguese skills.
Hello there :)
I'm 33, originally from Brazil, born and raise there until my 16 years old. My Grand parents are Japanese so, luckily I had the opportunity to move to Japan. Live there for another half of my life.
Even thought my heritage is Japanese I never studied any Japanese language, only Brazilian Portuguese. For being a linguist enthusiast and also to understand my roots better I decided to study and self-thought Japanese to a level that I consider a native level in the speaker matter. Now about writing and reading I don't consider my self fluent, but with a vast knowledge of the Alphabet.
Because Japan is one of the most multi-culture and diversity countries in Asia, so I end up studying English as well.
I'm looking forward to this new experience.
Thank you all
I would love to help you learn my beautiful mother tongue. My classes are easy-going and interactive, in a warm atmosphere in which you will learn grammar, pronunciation, and vocabulary. Whether you're already familiar with Portuguese or just starting to pick up the basics, I'm sure we could tailor our lessons to fit your needs and goals. I would love to help you with your writing project, social media presence, or learning of a new language. If you have any questions beforehand, please feel free to contact me.
I know all too well that awkward feeling when we begin to learn a language. The good news is that you will only get better and that depends on your commitment to learning and your professor. I've mastered five languages and I've done so because I know how to break down concepts and pronunciation in novel ways. With me, learning languages is fun — as it always should be. In class, I use music, videos, newspapers, grammar exercises, and pieces of literature to give you a well rounded entry into the language. Classes are always delivered in the target language, never in English: this is most effective method and closest to what it is like to be in a foreign country when you can't rely on English to get you by. Sign up and tell me about yourself and your language objectives. Looking forward!
I’m a bubbly person so my teaching techniques are more getting involved then boring, I’m great at teaching conversation lessons and basic level of Portuguese. It’s always good to learn a second/ third or even more languages. Exercises would be easy to complete and would provide exercises to practice when not in class.
Hi There
Learning another language is one of the ways to stimulate your brain and prevent Alzheimer's.
I use music, poems, and games to help you navigate and construct a new map in your brain that will help you learn Portuguese.
New techniques to learn and play with grammar rules and the use of various technologies are part of the class. I am prepared to teach beginners but also advance and teach Portuguese for business needs too.
Hope you will work with me and discover the language of Fernando Pessoa and Chico Buarque de Holanda.
